The Business of the Niagara and Sedona Frameworks

BusinessThe Niagara and Sedona Frameworks are extremely robust, flexible, and allow their adaptors to maximize bottom-line value.

Since the previous Niagara Summit, the installed base of Niagara has increased over 50% and there have been several new applications developed and deployed. The Business Track focuses on the business case of integration, connectivity and interoperability – the business value proposition of Niagara and Sedona.

With over 180,000 instances of the Niagara Framework deployed globally, and the growth of Sedona, this track provides a look into real world Niagara-based solutions and explores new application offerings; new revenue stream opportunities with both technologies and where they are headed.

Session Topics Include:

Niagara Energy & Smart Grid energy

Everyone wants to save energy, and save money. The SmartGrid is touted as a great boon. Yet, it is still more concept than reality, more fragmented than pervasive. What are the facts and figures about SmartGrid, how does it work? What’s Real, What’s Not? Are there business opportunities for me?

Green and sustainable buildings are proving to be more than a passing fad, even though the financial benefits of LEED and Green are still subject to healthy debate. This session provides some insight into what it means to a building owner and the commercial real estate community.

Session topics include a case study on a state wide energy program using Niagara, a look at energy dashboards and green report cards, sub metering green facilities, and the integration of Niagara and the Grid.

Speakers:
Jeff Kegley, Tridium
Jack McGowan, Energy Control Inc.
Jim Young, Realcomm

Energy Strategies energy

With rising energy costs and the move toward more sustainable buildings, increasing energy use in buildings has both financial and environmental consequences. The Niagara Framework has been a major player in making buildings more energy efficient, reducing energy usage and driving down costs for over twelve years. Niagara is allowing users to deploy optimal energy information and environmental management strategies and the interaction in real-time, with the systems that control the energy consuming and generating equipment in a facility. This session takes a look at new Niagara Energy Applications recently launched to the market.

Speakers:
Don Millstein, E-Mon
Daniel Perez, Energy Curtailment Specialists
Michel Lemieux, Viconics

Niagara in the Data Center Buildings infrastructure

Data centers have large investments in solutions to help them deal with the real-time operation and performance analysis and energy management. In order to compensate for their ever-changing situations and provide for future planning, there needs to be an aggregation of the respective real-time and past performance data of the IT and Facility systems.

This session examines what is required and looks how Niagara and business intelligence dashboards can be applied with data centers. In addition, we explore how the normalization of data via a common communications protocol technology and XML web service technology provides the flexibility for data being monitored by and collected from the IT Infrastructure Management, Facility Electrical BMS and Facility Mechanical BAS software applications.

Speakers:
Rick Warner, O & M Engineering
Ron Pepin, PNC Bank

Security Trends security

Security, access control and video as open, IP based solutions have now made their way though this once closed world. These once stand alone silos are now vital functions for today’s intelligent building and must extend themselves seamlessly with the rest of the facility systems. This session will provide an overview from leading security manufacturers on the current trends affecting the state of the security industry.

Speakers:
Tom Echols, Honeywell Security
Brenton Scott, HID Global
Reinier Tuinzing, Milestone Systems
